Daniel Jacobsen played a crucial role in Team USA’s 88-66 victory over Argentina in the U18 AmeriCup opener. During the game, Jacobsen scored nine points, grabbed ten rebounds, blocked five shots, and made a steal, coming close to achieving a double-double. His performance was impressive. However, after the game, some fans were making jokes about the 7-foot-3 center and criticizing him for his height advantage.

After the game, the College Basketball Report account on X (formerly known as Twitter) posted a video of Jacobsen’s first game with the caption “Meet Purdue’s new 7’3” center, Daniel Jacobsen: 9 PTS 10 REBS 5 BLKS Team USA beats Argentina by 22 points in the FIBA U18 Americup.”

Despite receiving praise from some fans, Jacobsen faced criticism.

Jacobsen has more defensive potential. The 7-foot-3 Purdue’s center can be a great player on defense. In his first game, Jacobsen displayed his versatility by showing his defensive skills. The only criticism Jacobsen received was for his inability to make decisions about the shots.

He sometimes found himself stranded between the Three-pointer line and the free-throw line, giving shooters plenty of space to hit an open shot. Jacobsen had little trouble securing great post positions on the offensive end of the court. However, he did struggle with a couple of close-range shots.
