When Taylor Swift first started showing up to Kansas City Chiefs games, fans wanted to know whether there was a budding romance or the visits were just friendly. And because details were so scarce, Swifties grabbed hold of anything they could — including a not-so-subtle Jason Kelce prank on the fandom.

While on Audacy SportsRadio 94WIP, Jason was asked about the rumored romance and though sarcastic, his answer caused a firestorm among Swifties and Chiefs nation alike.

“It’s hard to answer because I don’t really know a lot about Travis’ love life,” the Eagles center said. “I try to keep his business kind of his business, stay out of that world.” But, he added, “having said that, man, I think they’re doing great and I think it’s all 100% true, and I hope this thing goes a mile — no, I’m joking, I don’t know what’s happening.”

He would later take back the joke, saying, “My reaction was exactly, this is exactly what I think is gonna happen. She’s gonna go to the game, and the whole world’s gonna lose their goddamn mind,” Jason said of his joke taking off.

“That’s exactly what I thought was gonna happen… 7:30 in the morning, I’m happy that WIP [the radio show] got the [publicity] for it, but I was just trying to be sarcastic,” he added.

All in all, the Eagles star said it was “fun watching the whole world” take in Swift’s presence at the Chiefs game.
