Enes Kanter Freedom wanted to crap all over LeBron James’ special night, so he took to Twitter to make sure he did just that. Freedom took a jab at LeBron James after the Lakers star surpassed Kareem Abdul-Jabbar to become the NBA’s all-time leading scorer on Tuesday.
The free-agent big man sent out a strong message to James on Twitter after the historic moment.
“38,388 Points. 0 Morals. 0 Values. 0 Principles. 0 Empathy. 1 Bow Down to #China. Congrats @KingJames,” he tweeted.
James has yet to publicly address Freedom’s tweet ot just about anything he has said about him over the past year. The 11-year NBA veteran has been outspoken about the NBA as well as James’ silence on human rights atrocities in China.
Back in 2021, the Swiss-born, Turkish-raised center became an American citizen and legally changed his last name to “Freedom.” That same month he would wear sneakers on the court trolling James with an illustration that depicted him bowing to China’s president, Xi Jinping, as he put a crown on James’ head.
James first caught major controversy for comments made about China in which he said former Rockets GM Daryl Morey was “misinformed” about protests in the country. James refused to offer his own thoughts about China’s political policies.
“I have been playing 11 years in NBA and over 800 games,” Kanter Freedom said on “The Ingraham Angle” in December. “I have never, ever in my whole career [seen] any ambassador of any government that takes the court before or after the game and takes free shots. I remember when my manager sent me that video, I thought it was a joke, but I just — when I saw that tweet from the Chinese ambassador — I was like, ‘This is just disgusting…’
James needed 36 points to break the record and accomplished the feat in the third quarter. He finished with 38 points in the 133-130 loss to the Oklahoma City Thunder.
Kanter, a former first-round pick by the Jazz in the 2011 draft, had stints with the Thunder, Knicks, Trail Blazers and Celtics before Boston traded him to the Rockets in February 2022. He would be waived days later and has never been signed to a team since.
