Jaelen was the star of the show for New Mexico as they took down the San Diego State Aztecs 68-61 at the Thomas And Mack Center.

The graduate student guard finished the game with 28 points, five rebounds, and one assist in 37 minutes as the Lobos secured a spot in the NCAA Tournament.

But perhaps the most memorable moment of the game involving Jaelen came not because of his play, but because of his dad’s understandable enthusiasm.

With under 1:30 to go, Jaelen extended New Mexico’s lead to two possessions with a two-pointer.

CBS Sports cameras cut to former Miami Heat star Eddie in the stands, who was wearing his son’s jersey, as he pounded his chest, appearing to yell, “That’s my motherf*****g son! That’s my motherf*****g boy!”

The clip quickly made its way onto X, formerly known as Twitter, where fans wasted no time in weighing in on the viral moment.

“As a Dad… awesome. Any one of us would (and should) do the same,” one fan wrote.

“Saw it live on TV. That’s awesome!” a second said.

While a third admitted, “Me as a parent.”

The win marked the Lobos’ fifth Mountain West Conference championship since 2005.

“I took a chance when I took this job (three years ago),” head coach Richard Pitino said, via the Las Vegas Review-Journal.

“I did it because I wanted to be in a place where basketball is celebrated, where a community really cared about its basketball program. A lot comes with that. It can be hard sometimes.

“San Diego State is a program we have a lot of respect for. We had to raise our level of toughness and did that.”

Pitino went on to add, “Our guys’ confidence never wavered. They came into this tournament truly believing they could win it, and they did.”

Now Pitino will lead the Lobos at their first NCAA Tournament appearance since 2014.
