Federico Chiesa has broken his silence over his transfer from Juventus to Liverpool with the Italian international spotted on route to England.

The Italian international is set to become the second signing of the Arne Slot era following the arrival of Giorgi Mamardashvili from Valencia.

Liverpool have agreed a deal worth €13m with add-ons and will sign a four year contract with the Merseyside club.

Chiesa was spotted following the news of the deal with footage emerging on social media via @GiovaAlbanese.

Chiesa stated: “Ready to start this new adventure, I wanted to say goodbye to the Juventus fans. Thank you for your affection and for these years, I will carry you in my heart”

Chiesa had been heavily linked with a move away from Juventus this summer, with Newcastle United also interested in the Italian international.

The 26-year-old, who featured in Italy’s Euro 2024 squad, was considered surplus to requirements at Juventus following Thiago Motta’s appointment as manager. With the winger’s contract set to expire next summer, the Turin side were desperate to strike a deal this summer.

He scored nine goals and provided two assists in 33 Serie A appearances last season, earning his place at Euro 2024 where he started three out of Italy’s four matches.

As mentioned, Chiesa will join Mamardashvili at the club, but the goalkeeper won’t join Slot until next season as he will remain at Valencia on loan making Chiesa the only addition to the Liverpool squad.

Mamardashvili was outstanding for Georgia during Euro 2024 over the summer, and was arguably the main reason the underdogs managed to escape the group stage.

The 23-year-old goalkeeper earned 13 clean sheets last season for Valencia in 37 La Liga appearances.

Mamardashvili also boasted an impressive record when facing penalty kicks last campaign, saving three out of the six he faced for the Spanish side.
