At this point, it’s almost a surprise if Caitlin Clark doesn’t set a new record each time she steps on the basketball court. It was no different on Wednesday, September 4, as the Indiana Fever guard logged a triple-double for the second time this season.

No rookie has ever recorded a triple-double before Clark, and now she’s done it twice.

What’s even more amazing is the fact that the 22-year-old completed her latest feat in the dying seconds of Wednesday’s 93-86 win over the Los Angeles Sparks at the Gainbridge Fieldhouse.

Clark grabbed her 10th rebound to complete her triple-double in what turned out to be the last play of the evening.

As you may have heard on the broadcast, Fever teammate Kelsey Mitchell had a rather unexpected reaction to Clark’s latest feat. Apparently, Mitchell had no idea why the crowd went wild after Caitlin snagged what seemed like an ordinary rebound.

Kelsey’s reaction to the play says it all.

Mitchell knew that the home fans were happy about the win — after all, this was Indiana’s fifth consecutive victory. However, the two-time All-Star also knew that the supporters could not have been that excited about the victory.

Clearly, Mitchell had no clue that Clark was on the hunt for a historic triple-double.

Clark finished the game with 24 points on 8-of-17 shooting, to go along with 10 rebounds, 10 assists, three steals and four triples. This was the perfect way for Clark to respond to her first-ever Player of the Month award which was announced earlier in the day.
