Jonathan Toews could be considered the biggest building block of the dynastic era of the Blackhawks.
His influence on the team was more or less legendary and even near the end of his term as Captain, he still did his best to help out fellow teammates.
Brendan Perlini spent two seasons with the Blackhawks, from 2018-2019 and part of the 2019-2020 season.
He got to see how Toews operations in actions and represents the players on and off the ice.
It likely was helpful that Perlini and Toews knew each other previously as their brothers had played together elsewhere.
Perlini described how Toews went to bat to him with the team’s coach to keep him on the ice as well, which resulted in him netting a hat-trick against the Arizona Coyotes.
Not to mention, that Toews would set up team dinners and negated cliques on the road and make connections through group chats to set up group dinners.
Toews’s ability to create a team atmosphere according to Perlini was one of the Captain’s best skills.
Perlini thinks the most of Toews according to the interview and wants to reach out and catch up one day eventually.
Brendan Perlini has played 262 NHL games during his career, netting 81 points( 50 G, 30 A) during his NHL career and is currently playing in the AHL with the Charlotte Checkers, the Florida Panthers affiliate.
