The hockey community experiences a tragic loss Saturday May 18th

Former Canadiens prospect, 1980 US Olympic team member passes away

Sad news has plagued the hockey world on Saturday as a former Montreal Canadien and US Olympic player, Mark Wells, passed away.

The ‘1980MiracleTeam’ on X shared the saddened news:

It is with profound sadness that the @1980miraclehockeyteam announces the passing of our teammate and brother, Mark Wells. While there aren’t many details at this time, our thoughts and prayers go out to his family, friends and all who knew and loved him. RIP #15. Many of us were fortunate to spend time with Wellsy last week at our annual @1980hockeycamp. He loved coming back to this event every year as the «Commish», reuniting with us and all the campers who have become family.
He was drafted 176th overall in 1977 by the Montreal Canadiens and would spend time playing in the AHL with the Nova Scotia Voyageurs and the New Haven Nighthawks.

Our thoughts and prayers our with the friends, family and love ones affected by this news.
