The Pittsburgh Steelers have been officially eliminated from the playoffs following their heartbreaking loss against the Buffalo Bills on Monday. Following their loss, the Steelers’ second-year wide receiver George Pickens called out the officials and accused them of favoring the Bills the entire game.

To be honest I’m still stuck on this game right now with the refs. That’s the only thing that’s on my mind. … You’re not gonna win a game when you play the refs and the Buffalo Bills. That’s really I feel like happened to us today, to be honest.

George Pickens told the reporters
The 22-year-old receiver was visibly upset on the sidelines and slammed his helmet on the field after the referees failed to call a holding penalty on the Bills cornerback Dane Jackson during a crucial 4th down play in the 4th quarter of the game.

With less than 5 minutes left in the regulation period, the Steelers were facing a 14-point deficit and were facing a 4th down and 3 in their territory. The Steelers quarterback Mason Rudolph targeted Pickens on a slant route to secure a first down, but the ball went right through the hands of the wide receiver.

Pickens immediately looked around the field for penalty flags on Jackson, who tugged the Steelers wideout’s jersey during the play, but he didn’t get any flags. The no-call completely shattered any comeback hopes the Steelers had during the final minutes of the game.

Furthermore, Pickens also took issue with officials for calling questionable holding penalties on his teammate Myles Jack and accused them of foul play.

If you win a game like this, people are going to think what they’re going to think, so it’ll probably change a few perceptions. But like I said before, you can’t play the Bills and the refs at the same time.

George Pickens told the reporters

Pickens completed the game with 50 receiving yards while playing in the extremely cold weather game in Buffalo. But, he couldn’t help his team outplay the Bills, leading to their loss and elimination from the postseason.

On the flip side, the Bills have now advanced to the second round of the playoffs. The team will host the Kansas City Chiefs in their divisional round game this weekend.
