Caitlin Clark may appear fearless on the basketball court, but the 2024 WNBA Rookie of the Year recently shared what she’s afraid of — and it might surprise her fans.
While at the Annika LPGA’s Women’s Leadership Summit, Clark opened up about her biggest fear, likely to the dismay of cat lovers everywhere. “I really don’t like cats,” the Indiana Fever star revealed, according to Sports Illustrated.
Asked by reporters if dislike of cats was due to any allergies, she explained, “No. There was this black cat on my street growing up and it was so mean. I’m scarred. So, I’m really scared of cats. So, I’m sorry if any of you have a cat, I just don’t. I like dogs a lot but no cats.”
Before playing at the LPGA event on Wednesday, Nov. 13, Clark also admitted that she was nervous that she would possibly hit someone with a stray ball — which almost happened after a golf ball went into fans as she started off the tournament.

“I’m going to hit some good, I’m going to hit some bad,” she said on Tuesday, Nov. 12 ahead of the tournament, per Yahoo! Sports. “Just going to try not to hit anyone standing outside of the ropes. But it’ll be fun.”

Clark continued, adding “I’ve tried to take as much time as I can to practice, but there is only so much hope. You just cross your fingers, pray.”
The WNBA star was also asked about her comments at the end of the Fever’s playoff run that she was going to spend the offseason becoming a pro golfer.
“No, I’ve practiced a little bit and I just had the quote about becoming a professional golfer. Everybody thought I was serious. I was not serious. I love it. I love being outside and making it competitive with my friends,” she said, per the outlet.
