Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy may have led over a ton and a half golf tournament leaderboards collectively, but they still did not manage to achieve a feat that a 27-year-old golfer recorded in his 19th PGA Tour star. In the first round of the John Deere Classic, Nashville-born Hayden Springer added his name to the history book of the game by shooting a brilliant round of 59. His sensational round at TPC Deere Run had two eagles and eight birdies.

What’s more astonishing is the fact that Springer ranks 236th in the Official World Golf Rankings! Also, he became the 14th player on the PGA Tour to record a round below 60, joining the likes of Jim Furyk, Brandt Snedeker, Justin Thomas, and many others.

Interestingly, Springer earned his PGA Tour via qualifying school, shooting a brilliant 12 under par to finish on the top of the leaderboard.

Meanwhile, his round of 59 at the John Deere Classic was not enough to win him his first PGA Tour title! However, despite being unable to lift the cup at TPC Deere Run, the 27-year-old could still be at peace. After all, he reached a feat that Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy failed to achieve in their careers.

For both Woods and McIlroy, the US Open at Pinehurst last month was a tough pill to digest. While the 15-time major champion failed to make it inside the cut line, the Northern Irishman had an even worse case! He lost to Bryson DeChambeau by merely one stroke, continuing his major win drought.

Since then, both ace golfers have been on hiatus. While Woods has already confirmed to play only in the major tournaments, McIlroy will be back in action in the upcoming Scottish Open.

But fans will see them together on the golf course at the Open Championship later this month. Can Rory McIlroy end his major drought at Royal Troon? Or can Tiger Woods make his first cut at The Open in the last six years? All these questions will be answered when they tee up at Royal Troon on July 18.
