Houston Texans superstar wide receiver Tank Dell is recovering from “a minor wound” after being shot during an incident last night, the team announced.

The Texans announced on X/Twitter this afternoon that Tank Dell was hospitalized after being shot in Sanford, Florida, last night. Fortunately, Dell avoided a serious injury and has been released from the hospital, and the Texans announced that the second-year star “is in good spirits.”

According to KPRC 2 in Houston, Dell had no involvement in the shooting incident, which took place outside a nightclub. Dell was “an innocent bystander in a mass shooting”, according to the outlet.

There aren’t many details available regarding the shooting incident and how many others were injured. We’ll be sure to provide more information when it becomes available.

The 24-year-old Dell is coming off a phenomenal rookie season that saw him rack up 47 receptions for 709 yards and seven touchdowns in 11 games. Unfortunately, Dell’s promising rookie year ended when he fractured his fibula in a Week 13 win against the Denver Broncos.

Houston won the AFC South with a 10-7 record, marking their first division title in four years. They defeated the Cleveland Browns in the Wild Card Round before falling to Lamar Jackson’s Baltimore Ravens in round two.

Tank Dell Is A Pivotal Part Of Houston’s Promising Future

Houston general manager Nick Caserio hit the jackpot with his 2023 selections, having drafted three franchise cornerstones in quarterback CJ Stroud, edge rusher Will Anderson Jr. and Tank Dell.

Stroud had a historic first season culminating in Offensive Rookie of the Year honors. The likes of Stroud, Dell, Anderson Jr. and cornerback Derek Stingley Jr. are just entering their prime years now, and the Texans should be a force in the AFC for years to come.

The Texans also acquired Stefon Diggs via trade with the Buffalo Bills, giving this prolific offense yet another dangerous playmaker. Simply put, the sky’s the limit for this Houston team that’s loaded with superstar players across the board.
