NFL fans are in shock after learning an interesting stat about Philadelphia Eagles rookie wide receiver Johnny Wilson.

The Eagles selected Johnny Wilson in the sixth round (at No. 185 overall) in the 2024 NFL Draft. Per the Eagles’ team website, the 6-foot-6 Wilson is the biggest wide receiver drafted in the past 10 years

The ML Football X/Twitter account noted that Wilson is the second-tallest wide receiver in NFL history (the post says 6-foot-7, but he’s listed at 6-6). Eagles legend Harold Carmichael, listed at 6-foot-8, is the tallest WR in NFL history.

NFL fans had plenty of interesting things to say upon learning this fact:

The Los Angeles, California native played for Arizona State for two seasons before transferring to Florida State. Wilson had a breakout year in 2022, hauling in 43 passes for 897 yards and five touchdowns.

Johnny Wilson was limited to 10 games in his final year of college ball but still finished with a stellar 41-617-2 stat line. The Seminoles were controversially left out of the four-team playoff tournament and instead had to settle on an Orange Bowl appearance, where they lost to Georgia.

The Eagles are coming off a disappointing end to their 2023 season that culminated with an ugly blowout loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the Wild Card Round. They’ll kick off their season against the Green Bay Packers on Sept. 6 in São Paulo, the first NFL contest that will be played in Brazil.

Johnny Wilson Isn’t A Lock To Make Eagles Roster

The Eagles have two of the league’s best wide receivers in AJ Brown and DeVonta Smith, with former New York Giant and Indianapolis Colt Parris Campbell listed as the No. 3 on the depth chart.

So it remains to be seen if Johnny Wilson will manage to crack the Eagles’ final 53-man roster. But given his incredible size and enticing skill set, Wilson would surely be picked up quickly by another team if the Eagles were to cut him.
