A sad tragedy struck the Kansas City Chiefs training camp over the weekend. While Patrick Mahomes and his team were continuing their training for a back-to-back shot at the Super Bowl trophy, one long-time fan of the Chiefs Kingdom, unfortunately, lost her life suddenly.
The team is hosting its training camp at Missouri Western State University in St. Joseph, which is also open to the public. Little did anyone know that the Chiefs’ most enthusiastic fan wouldn’t return home. The untimely death has come as a shock to her family and friends.
A Chiefs fan passes away while cheering for Patrick Mahomes and his team
Jessica Tangen was a long-time loyal supporter of the Chiefs in the NFL. Apart from this, she was also a mother to a young daughter, who would accompany her to watch Patrick Mahomes take the field with his team. But tragedy struck the Tangen family when she went to attend the public training games of the team on the weekend.
Jessica Tangen was living in Riverside, in Platte County. But little did people expect that her trip to St. Joseph would be her last. While the official cause of her death has not been disclosed, it has been speculated that the severe heatwave in Missouri during the training camp may have been the reason for her death. Mosaic Life Care, the official health partner during the Chiefs training camp, reported that they immediately attended to Jessica Tangen. They further stated that they received help from the staff at Missouri Western and Buchanan County EMS.
And later on, Mosaic Life Care released an official statement after the passing of Jessica Tangen on the same day.
Official statement on Jessica Tangen’s death
The death of this superfan comes as a sudden shock to many. The Kansas City Star reported that an ambulance could be seen parked with its light on near the field where the team was practicing. Mosaic Life Care provided an official statement to KMBC News regarding the passing of Jessica Tangen. The statement read, “We are devastated to share that one of the Kansas City Chiefs beloved fans, Jessica Tangen of Riverside, MO, passed away Sunday morning at the Chiefs training camp.” The statement further reports that her family shared that she was a “lifelong Chiefs fan and loved cheering for the team.”
We express our deepest condolences to the family of Jessica Tangen as they grieve the loss of their loved one.
