Patrick Mahomes has a big divisional game this weekend, but he’s made some time to step out for a major sporting event that has nothing to do with football.

The Kansas City Chiefs are scheduled for a second clash with the Denver Broncos this Sunday and could have a difficult time against Sean Payton’s side given that the weather might pose a challenge, while Denver’s defense played very well against the Chiefs in their last matchup.

Mahomes, who is a Texas native and whose dad was once a pitcher for the Rangers, was reportedly in attendance when they played the Arizona Diamondbacks on Friday night. That is according to USA Today’s Bob Nightingale, who reported as much ahead of the game on Friday as he noted Mahomes was set to attend.

“Kansas City Chiefs star quarterback Patrick Mahomes, who grew up in East Texas, is expected to attend Game 1 of the World Series tonight,” Nightingale wrote. “Mahomes grew up a huge Rangers fan but is now a minority owner of the KC Royals. Mahomes’ father, Pat Sr., pitched for the Rangers in 2001.”

The quarterback would have enjoyed the outing as the Rangers have taken a 1-0 lead and will be playing Game 2 tonight.

Now, he’ll be getting ready to push the Chiefs to a 7-1 record on Sunday.
