star DiJonai Carrington has lashed out at one internet troll’s ‘sick’ George Floyd meme after complaining about Indiana Fever fans in Wednesday’s loss to Caitlin Clark & Co.
‘imagine thinking George Floyd‘s murder is a joke,’ Carrington wrote on X after the Sun fell 84-80 in Indianapolis. ‘all because of a basketball game. this is so sick.’
The doctored image shows Floyd’s infamous 2020 murder at the hands of Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin, who has since been convicted and sentenced to 22 years in prison. Only instead of the officer, it is Clark’s smiling face superimposed over Chauvin’s while Carrington’s headshot is pasted over the dying Floyd’s head.
Authored by a paying X subscriber, the inflammatory meme came in response to criticism Carrington directed at Fever supporters: ‘the indiana fever have the nastiest fans in the W. ew.’

Carrington played well in the loss, scoring a team-high 19 points and adding six steals
‘Average Indy fan behavior,’ one follower responded. ‘Just like she said.’
Another added: ‘Just say you hate black women and move on.’
Floyd’s 2020 murder remains hot-button issue, nationally. The Hennepin County Medical Examiner concluded that Floyd died from ‘cardiopulmonary arrest’ from ‘law enforcement subdual, restraint, and neck compression.’
Three other Minneapolis cops were given prison sentences for violating Floyd’s civil rights and failing to restrain Chauvin.
The nasty meme followed a disappointing loss for Carrington and the Sun, a second-place team that entered the night 3-0 against Clark and the Fever this season.

Wednesday night was a different story, though, as Clark set a WNBA rookie record for 3-pointers by passing Rhyne Howard´s 85 in 2022. She would finish the night with 19 points and five assists while Indiana’s Kelsey Mitchell led all scorers with 23.
Carrington played well, scoring a team-high 19 points and adding six steals, but made only 1 of 5 attempts from deep and battled foul trouble in the fourth quarter.
Carrington was seen hushing the crowd after hitting here only triple of the evening, only for Clark to reignite the arena by draining a 3-pointer of her own at the other end.
Indiana (15-16) moves on to face Angel Reese and the Sky in Chicago on Saturday night, while Connecticut (22-8) heads to Washington for a Sunday matinee with the Mystics.
