For much of the year, Angel Reese had her name attached to Caitlin Clark for multiple reasons.
It began in college after their controversial National Championship game, when she waved her hand in Clark’s face and refused to apologize.
The next season, Caitlin got her revenge in the NCAA Tournament as the Iowa Hawkeyes eliminated the LSU Tigers.
Both girls got drafted and made more news throughout their rookie campaign.
There were numerous online battles about whether Angel Reese or Caitlin Clark would be named Rookie Of The Year.
The arguments were put to rest when Indiana Fever guard Caitlin Clark was unanimously named the 2024 Associated Press WNBA Rookie of the Year.
It cemented her first season, which saw her as a four-time WNBA Rookie of the Month, three-time WNBA Eastern Conference Player of the Week, and WNBA Eastern Conference Player of the Month in August, per Fever.com.
Chicago Sky forward Angel Reese, who was widely considered the biggest threat to Clark’s Rookie of the Year claim, took to X and finally spoke out, although she had nothing to state about the award.
“Woke up again a very blessed girl. A very happy girl,” Reese tweeted.
The Fever’s rookie phenom averaged 19.2 points, 8.4 assists, and 5.7 rebounds per game in the regular season.
Before she went out, Angel Reese finished her rookie season averaging 13.6 points and 13.1 rebounds.
Chicago Sky Rookie Angel Reese Broke Numerous Records In Rookie Campaign
Chicago Sky rookie Angel Reese was a beast in her first season before a wrist injury ended her year early.
During the Chicago Sky’s game against the Minnesota Lynx, Reese set the single-season record for rebounds as she needed just a few to surpass Sylvia Fowles’ all-time mark of 404 set in 2018.
Reese also broke the single-season record for offensive rebounds with 172.
Not to mention, Angel Reese became a double-double machine. With 26, she holds the record for the most double-doubles by a rookie.
Reese also became the fastest player in WNBA history to record 20 double-doubles.
