Caitlin Clark says loss to Angel Reese and Chicago Sky ‘can’t happen again’ after the Indiana Fever blew a 15-point third-quarter lead /hi (video)

Caitlin Clark says that the Indiana Fever still have a lot to learn in the aftermath of their loss to the Chicago Sky.

Indiana was up 15 points at one point in the third quarter, but collapsed late to fall 88-87 to their rivals from the Windy City.

Reflecting on the loss days later, Clark told reporters that the team will position themselves to try and prevent similar defeats in the future.

‘It stinks,’ Clark told reporters. ‘It was a game we felt like we could have won and put our selves in a position to win after three quarters.

‘I think we were up 12 with seven minutes to play in the game, if I’m not mistaken. I think you can’t dwell on it too much, but it can’t happen again.

‘I think it’s one you go back and watch the film and you get in those situations. We have another situation where we’re up 15 in the fourth quarter.

You have to be able to still attack and be aggressive, but also play really great defense. You can’t foul as much. That stops the clock. That’s three points when the clock’s not even moving. That’s the worst thing that you can do.

‘Like I said, we’re in an inexperienced group. You have to learn from it. That’s the only thing you can do.’

The third meeting between Clark and her college rival Angel Reese went in favor of the Bayou Barbie as former LSU star Reese put up her eighth consecutive double-double.

While both rookies played spectacular games in Chicago, the night belonged to Reese, who became the first WNBA rookie to have a 25-plus-point and 15-plus-rebound double-double since A’Ja Wilson.

On the other hand, Clark also put up a double-double with 17 points and a franchise-high 13 assists with six rebounds.
