Nearly 15 years on from his final professional fight, former unified heavyweight world champion Mike Tyson proved he still possesses some of his fearsome hand speed and power.

The 53-year-old shared a video with the caption ‘I’m a bad boy for life’ of him carrying out punching drills with a trainer.

The footage comes a week after Tyson revealed he wanted to return to the ring for a four-round exhibition bout in a bid to ‘make some money to help some homeless and drug-affected motherf****** like me’.

Mike Tyson shows off his ferocious punches amid lockdown

Across a 20-year professional career, Tyson established a reputation as one of the most destructive heavyweight boxers of all time as he went 37 fights before tasting defeat.

That loss to Buster Douglas sparked a downturn in fortunes as the American was afflicted by drug and sex addiction that curtailed his dominance in the ring.

Tyson became notorious for incidents such as biting the ear of rival Evander Holyfield in the middle of a fight.

After losing to Kevin McBride in June 2005, Tyson retired and fellow champion George Foreman recently called for Iron Mike to call off any thoughts of a ring return.

Foreman said: ‘Tyson has done enough great things for boxing. No more is needed.

‘He is in the Hall of Fame and was a mighty puncher.’

However, UFC star Khabib Nurmagomedov commented on Instagram: ‘Cannot believe it, this is another level.’
