Vin Diesel for the past several years has been part of the incredible Fast & Furious franchise. The lead star of the franchise, Diesel has worked hard to build this franchise from the ground up and take it where it is now. While he acknowledges how special this franchise is, for being built from scratch to the incredible cast it has gained over the years, there is one movie that is ‘most’ important to him.
Diesel hails the seventh installment of the movie as the most important yet the hardest movie he had ever shot. And it was because of his long-time friend and co-star Paul Walker’s passing that made it harder for him to finish the shoot.

The Fast & Furious franchise is based on the themes of family, love, and friendship. After all these years the cast has grown together like a family. However, tragedy struck when one of the most integral and lead stars of the franchise, Paul Walker passed away in a road accident. Vin Diesel, who was close to Walker from the start and had a brotherly relationship suffered the most.
Walker passed away when the seventh installment was being shot and just some of its shoot was left. Finishing up the seventh installment, which Diesel describes as the most important one, was the hardest thing Diesel had ever done.
In an interview with Variety, via Pop Sugar, the actor stated,
“I’m supposed to be in killer mode . . . I went through three boxes of tissues, and I felt so bad. I felt so embarrassed. I had always been the kind of actor that other actors respect. I was just failing so hard. My nose was running and my eyes were tearing. I had to walk off set to try to get all the fluids out. I couldn’t contain my emotion, and thus it became the toughest film I ever had to shoot.”
Even though he was heartbroken, he decided to finish the movie and create this incredible franchise because of Walker.
Vin Diesel Initially Wanted To Give Up Everything

When Diesel first heard the news of Paul Walker’s death, his initial thought was to cancel everything. But remembering the faith and pride Walker had for this franchise and how much he wanted to continue it was what convinced Diesel to stay. He stated (via Pop Sugar),
“There was fear. Could I finish playing Dom with such a broken heart? . . . I thought what Paul would really want me to do was finish it. So that’s what I did.”
To finish up the movie, Paul Walker’s brother and CGI were used. However, for Diesel pretending to shoot with someone who wasn’t there anymore and would never be there again was harder than he had ever experienced.
“The irony is, I’ve been acting since I was 7 years old. No one in the world could teach you how to act across from someone your heart is mourning for.”
Despite everything, the franchise just its tenth movie released and Diesel couldn’t be more proud.
