The Golden State Warriors’ hot streak continues. Stephen Curry and Co. bagged another road win tonight as they beat the New York Knicks in Madison Square Garden. The Warriors dominated from start to finish and gave the Knicks no chance to make a comeback. After the game, Draymond Green got on the mic to discuss the Warriors’ victory. However, a familiar face in the interview panel shocked the former DPOY.
NBA Insider Bonta Hill started Draymond’s interview by asking him a question about playing at MSG. Draymond interrupted Hill in the middle of the question and called him out for badmouthing him when he got suspended. “Bonta, I’m shocked you talking to me. The way you were talking to me when I got suspended, I am very shocked you’re talking to me,” Draymond said.
Despite the awkward moment, Draymond and Hill continued with the interview. However, Draymond did not entertain Hill for long and gave a one-line response to his question.
Previously, Draymond Green revealed during Carmelo Anthony’s podcast that he spent a couple of days just listening to media narratives after his on-court actions. During that time, Bonta Hill talked ill about Draymond on The Morning Roast radio show. “With his reputation, what did you think was going to happen?” Hill yelled after Draymond got suspended for choking Rudy Gobert. When a Warriors fan called out Hill for badmouthing a player from his own team, he said, “Our job is to not be cheerleaders. Our job is to call it like it is.”
Draymond probably had those words in mind when he confronted Bonta Hill on Live TV tonight.
While everyone expected Draymond Green to be in a jovial mood after the Warriors’ win, he shocked everyone by calling out Bonta Hill. Green’s comments could sway the NBA World either way, as many believe he should not have brought up past instances, while others think he did the right thing by confronting Bonta.
Draymond revealed during the ‘7 PM in Brooklyn with Carmelo Anthony & Kid Mero’ podcast, how the media narratives and fan slander caused him to consider retirement during the suspension. He claimed that the media spread different narratives like wildfire that caused people to question his character and make wild allegations about him.
The Golden State star missed 12 games after he was suspended for hitting Jusuf Nurkic in the face on Dec. 12. Post this, the NBA said Green “demonstrated his commitment to conforming his conduct to standards expected of NBA players.” He met a counselor and even attended several meetings with representatives of the league to discuss the matter. In fact, the athlete has a history of suspensions. Remember when he had Rudy Gobert in a headlock? And how, back in 2016, he kicked Steven Adams in the groin?
So, Draymond was possibly frustrated with the media personnel, who tried to escalate the situation with their negative comments. However, Bonta Hill also showed great professionalism after Draymond called him out and remained focused on the interview. What are your thoughts on Draymond calling out Bonta Hill for his takes on Live TV?
