‘Indeed a woman abuser’: Anele calls out Chris Brown comments (PO)

Anele Mdoda is one of many South Africans calling out US singer Chris Brown for his comments under a Women For Change post.

The R&B star – who is set to perform two concerts in South Africa in December – has seemingly snubbed the anti-gender-based violence (GBV) activists who are calling on authorities to revoke his visa.

Brown’s performance will come just days after the government’s 16 Days of Activism campaign dedicated to ending GBV.

Next week, Investigation Discovery is set to air a documentary about the singer’s “history of abuse,” particularly against women.

ANELE MDODA REACTS TO CHRIS BROWN COMMENTS

In a social media post, Women For Change shared a clip of social justice activist Darren Campher calling out a male Chris Brown supporter.

Camphor – who recently won the Social Commentary category at the DStv Content Creator Awards last weekend – claimed that the singer’s supporter was “part of the reason why dangerous men find a safe space in South Africa.”

Surprisingly, Chris Brown himself jumped into the comments section under the post.

“Can’t wait to come”, he commented.

The comment saw many GBV activists – including Women For Change – shocked at the singer’s “audacity.”

Joining in was media personality Anele Mdoda, who tweeted: “I was not going to comment on this Chris Brown saga cause I think people must do what they want with their money, but, this is 🤮[disgusted face emoji].”

She added: “Chris must come and perform. But taunting a page that advocates against women abuse when he is indeed a women abuser is low. Even for him”.

“Just come perform, bruh. Pay attention to the 90 000 super fans and leave the rest”.

‘APPALLED HE IS COMING TO SA’

Also calling out Chris Brown’s comments and show in SA is fellow media personality Dan Corder.

He said in a social media post about the singer: “He is a full-time abuser and a part-time singer at this stage.

“The message it sends to the women who suffer abuse at the hand of men…”

He added: “As much as he sold out FNB so quickly, there are many people who are appalled that Chris Brown is coming to South Africa, and there are many, many, many people who are appalled that he is so comfortably popular.”

DO YOU THINK CHRI BROWN’S COMMENTS WERE INTENTIONALLY DISRESPECTFUL?
