Gypsy Rose Blanchard, following her recent release from prison after serving a sentence for her involvement in her mother’s murder, has a theory about a song on Taylor Swift’s new album, “The Tortured Poets Department.”
According to TMZ, citing unnamed sources close to Blanchard, the 32-year-old believes the song “Fresh Out The Slammer” references her own experience. The song reportedly details a woman leaving prison and reuniting with a lover which mirrors Blanchard’s situation upon her release, where she moved in with her now estranged husband.
Blanchard reportedly also connects with the song’s lyric “camera flashes, welcome bashes,” referencing the media attention she has received since her release.
Social media users have echoed these sentiments, with some suggesting the song is “Gypsy Rose coded.” However, there is no confirmation Taylor Swift drew inspiration from Blanchard’s case. The two have never met publicly, though Blanchard has expressed admiration for Swift’s music.
Blanchard recently debuted a new look and the second season of her Lifetime docuseries, “Gypsy Rose: Life After Lock Up,” premieres June 3rd.
