Melba Mills keeps newspaper clippings of history and, at 100 years old, she’s got an impressive collection.

Mills’ son, Monte Mitchell, said his mother keeps clippings of everything.

She’s got clippings from her birthday, clippings of the Pearl Harbor bombing, and her son said she has quite the sports collection.

“As time has progressed, she’s had an interest in all sports,” Mitchell told the NFL.

Mills’ most recent file is filled with news on the career of Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes.

“Unbeknownst to many of us, she has followed his path from reading the local newspaper,” Mitchell said.

“Everybody loves his play!” Mills said. “He’s so fast and so slick! I just thought he was so darn cute.”

Mitchell said as a Chiefs superfan, his mother has never had the opportunity to go to a game at Arrowhead Stadium. That was about to change thanks to the NFL and the Chiefs organization.

Mitchell wrote a letter to the Chiefs, and they responded with an incredible gift – tickets to the Sept. 22 home opener. Mills was treated to an amazing VIP experience, complete with her own No. 100 jersey for the game. She was also honored as the Bud Light Fan of the Game.

Mills was honored on the field, she met Chiefs CEO Clark Hunt, Chiefs President Mark Donovan, Chiefs Hall of Famer Bobby Bell, and many of her favorite players, including Patrick Mahomes.

“It took me 100 years to get here,” Mills joked on the sideline.

Her entire trip was chronicled as part of the NFL 100th season celebration. The Chiefs posted a video of Mills’ story and her trip to Arrowhead Monday with the message “Cheers to 100.”
