Ahead of his highly anticipated fight with Mike Tyson, Jake Paul trolled the veteran boxer on social media.

Paul posted a video on his Instagram detailing his new face tattoo—the same one Tyson has (though it’s unclear if Paul’s tattoo is real)—before showing a man with a bite taken out of his ear. Paul then showed himself with a fake ear in his mouth.

In 1997, Tyson infamously bit a part of Evander Holyfield’s ear off during a fight. The move cost Tyson both the fight and his boxing license, though he was later reinstated. It was one of the most bizarre moments in boxing history, and one Tyson would be remembered for the rest of his career.

Despite the ear bite, Tyson had a legendary career, winning 50 fights and 44 by knockout. The 57-year-old six-time heavyweight champion hasn’t boxed professionally since 2005 but is returning to fight Paul. Tyson’s last fight was an exhibition against Roy Jones Jr. in 2020, which ended in a draw.

Paul, the YouTuber-turned-boxer who made his debut in 2020, has a 9-1 record, including wins against Tommy Fury and former UFC star Nate Diaz.

Though Tyson has 30 years on the 27-year-old Paul, he seems to be in fighting shape, posting an intimidating training video on social media earlier this week.

The fight between Tyson and Paul will take place on July 20 in Arlington, Texas, and will air on Netflix.
