Jason Kelce was the subject of some trolling after news of his retirement broke on Tuesday morning.

The Philadelphia Eagles center is expected to walk away from the game following his team’s Wild Card defeat to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Monday night. According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Super Bowl champion told his teammates he would retire following the 32-9 playoff loss.

Kelce was visibly emotional after last night’s game and it’s likely because he knew it would be his last.

The veteran is one of the more likable players in the NFL and is well-respected around the league. However, certain outlets had some fun at his expense after the news dropped, referring to him as a “popular podcast host” when reporting on his decision.

“Popular podcast host quits day job,” Awful Announcing wrote as their headline.

The Big Lead joked, “Taylor Swift’s boyfriend’s podcast co-host retired.”

Jason runs the very popular ‘New Heights’ podcast with his brother, Travis Kelce, and it appears he’s about to become a full-time podcast host.

He’s also thought to be a nailed-on cert for the Pro Football Hall of Fame given that he’s one of just five NFL centers with six All-Pro selections and all of the others are HOFers.
