Taylor Swift 'refused' cameo appearance in Jennifer Lopez's documentary

Sources suggest that Jennifer Lopez sought help from Taylor Swift and renamed her live show to change her luck. However, ticket sales for the singer’s upcoming performances remain disappointing, with some venues selling less than 50% of tickets.

According to the Daily Mail, after renaming her U.S. tour from “This is Me… Now” to “This is Me… Live The Greatest Hits” to improve sales, Jennifer Lopez’s ticket sales for the upcoming tour are still underwhelming.

With only a few weeks left before the promotional concert for her ninth studio album, Jennifer Lopez faces significant ticket sales issues. The official seating map on Ticketmaster shows many empty seats, with some venues having over 50% unsold.

The ticket sales in Denver, Colorado, and Tulsa, Oklahoma are reported to be particularly poor, with many empty rows. The Daily Mail suggests that Jennifer Lopez is likely to incur losses. Sales in busier locations like the Kaseya Center in Miami on June 28-29 and Madison Square Garden in New York on August 16-17 are also not looking better.

Most tickets have only sold for the first night, leaving many empty seats for the second performance, especially in New York on August 17. Ticket resellers are primarily listing tickets for the opening night in Orlando, Florida on June 26.

Currently, Jennifer Lopez’s concert is sold out at only a few venues, such as Newark, New Jersey (USA), Toronto, and Montreal (Canada) in August. Ticket prices for Jennifer Lopez’s live shows range from $651 to $4,198 per ticket.

In March, Jennifer Lopez quietly canceled seven performances across the U.S., including Cleveland, Nashville, Raleigh, Atlanta, Tampa, New Orleans, and Houston (from August 20-31) due to poor ticket sales. After canceling, she renamed the tour to “This Is Me… Live The Greatest Hits.” According to Billboard, this strategy aims to attract audiences by focusing on her entire career instead of the initially planned new album released after ten years.

“The decision was inspired by Taylor Swift and Madonna, two stars with successful tours over the past year. Jennifer changed the name as a way to seek help, following Taylor Swift’s example. She saw how well Swift did with The Eras Tour, which takes fans through the journey of her music career,” a source told the Daily Mail. The Daily Mail notes that it’s not surprising Lopez sought help from Taylor Swift, who holds the record for the highest-grossing tour by a female artist, earning over $1 billion.

Explaining Jennifer Lopez’s poor ticket sales, brand expert Hayley Knight cited poor PR effectiveness and fan loyalty issues.

“Unlike Taylor Swift, Madonna, Britney Spears, or Beyoncé, J.Lo doesn’t have a large, loyal fan base. People might know her music, but it’s not enough to compel them to buy concert tickets,” the expert said.

“This Is Me… Live The Greatest Hits” marks Lopez’s return after five years, since her 2019 tour, which grossed over $50 million. Previously, Lopez’s comeback album didn’t make much of an impression on the audience. The album debuted at number 38 on the Billboard 200, marking her first time falling out of the top 20 on the music chart.
