JEOPARDY! has received a poor reception from some Simpsons writers over an inaccurate clue during the 2024 Tournament of Champions.

The formidable Troy Meyer faces fan-favorite Ben Chan and the controversial Yogesh Raut in the now-airing ToC finals.

On Wednesday’s match, Ben selected the $600 clue in the category “Real Names of Unreal People.”

The clue read, “Robert Underdunk Terwilliger is the real name of this vengeful The Simpsons character.”

Troy, a music executive and pro quizzer from Tampa, Florida, correctly guessed Sideshow Bob.

But Jeopardy! had the incorrect real name of the sitcom’s famed villain.

“Yes @Jeopardy you made a rare mistake,” former Simpsons writer Bill Oakley wrote on X. “It’s ‘Onderdonk.’ And @Joshstrangehill and I are certain cause we wrote that script. Cc: @KenJennings.”

‘TREBEK WOULD NEVER!’

Fans replied to the call-out where many were surprised by the error, while others defended that worse things have happened.

“Next thing you know they’ll be calling Bart’s teacher ‘Crandall,” one fan quipped.

“Not that I need to tell you but it’s VERY clearly pronounced ‘ON-der-donk’ on the show,” wrote another.

“I think closed captioning spells it with a U though,” argued a third.

“Boy, I really hope somebody got fired for that blunder,” joked a fourth.

“Trebek would have never let this happen,” wrote a fifth.

While Ken Jennings has not buzzed in, Jeopardy!’s social media team copped to the mistake, quote-tweeting the post with a GIF of Sideshow Bob walking into a pole.

‘SHAMEFUL’

Meanwhile, the game show, filming tournament play in rapid-fire mode, was accused of a mistake earlier in its most treasured tournament.

Last month, viewers stormed social media over a questionable math clue during the 2024 ToC quarterfinals.

Cris Pannullo, the fifth-winningest contestant ever, faced three-day champ Jared Watson and six-day champ Ben Goldstein.

He buzzed in on a clue under “MEMORY” in the first round for $1000.

It read: “In comparing computer memory info, think before you give us this, the number of megabytes in a gigabyte.”

Cris was ruled incorrect with “1000,” and Jared swept in with “1024,” which was ruled correct.

From there, Jared got control of the game, finding all three Daily Doubles and soundly defeating the tournament’s top seed.

Some poindexters took to social media, arguing that Cris’ “1000” – a neg that knocked him off his heels – should have been accepted.

One X user wrote, “Absolutely shameful of the Jeopardy! judges not to accept 1000 for the number of megabytes in a gigabyte last night.”

Another wrote, “Without question 1000 and 1024 should have both been accepted.”

A third defended, “I can actually see how this clue could have technically only accepted 1024, but then that just makes it an awful clue.”

A fourth wrote, “This is just objectively wrong wtf one of the worst mistakes I’ve ever seen them make.”

A fifth wrote, “As the contestant I would have lost my s**t and started yelling about gibibytes.”

A sixth joked: “What is ‘it depends on which unit you are using the commonly accepted answer when referring to…’ ‘We’re going to cut to a commercial now and will be back with the results after these messages.'”

Jeopardy! ToC continues tonight at 7 pm ET on ABC, with the first contestant to win three games winning the title.
