Jodie Turner-Smith is focused on “peacefully” co-parenting with her ex Joshua Jackson.

In a June 14 interview with The Cut, the actress, 37, discussed her divorce from Jackson, 46, and his new relationship with Lupita Nyong’o, 41, telling the outlet that she hopes her ex and the actress are “happy.”

Turner-Smith and Jackson were married for over three years and share one daughter, Juno Rose Diana Jackson, 4. The actress filed to end their marriage in October 2023, and several months later, Jackson and Nyong’o were spotted holding hands in Joshua Tree, California.

Explaining toThe Cut that her divorce came from herself and Jackson being on “different paths,” Turner-Smith also shared her thoughts on his new relationship.

“Good for them,” she said when asked about Jackson and the Black Panther actress, adding, “We need happiness in order to peacefully co-parent.”

She then compared her and Jackson’s split to another divorced celebrity couple, saying, “I’m trying to get us to the Gwyneth and Chris Martin level. I truly hope they’re happy and that it benefits us as a family.”

Gwyenth Paltrow and Martin were married for over a decade before splitting. When they announced their break-up in 2014, they famously declared that they were “consciously uncoupling” but would remain close to co-parent their two children.

Elsewhere in the interview, Turner-Smith shared some sweet insight into her daughter’s personality, showing the reporter a video of Juno saying, “Well, I want to be a warrior mother because I’m strong,” when asked what she would like to be when older.

The actress then showed The Cut an image of Roman goddess Juno Sospita, after whom her daughter — who was born April 2020 — is named.

“I look at that picture often and remind myself that this is the energy I named her after,” she said, adding, “So I shouldn’t be surprised that I literally have a warrior.”

In November of 2023, Turner-Smith and Jackson agreed to joint physical and legal custody of their daughter with neither party paying child support.

“I just have to do everything that I can to set Juno up to win and to peacefully co-parent with someone whom I once loved very, very much,” the actress told The Cut later in the interview.

“Peace is what’s needed right now. Grace is what’s needed right now. Love, empathy, compassion. I’m trying to be all those things and have faith that when I’m all those things, I will see that reflected back toward me.”
