Legendary Las Vegas Raiders coach Jon Gruden offered his take on the Tom Brady vs Patrick Mahomes debate.
On his show “Jon Gruden Loves Football”, he does what he loves best after coaching and directly calling plays: breaking football games and plays. He’s also giving interviews on other shows to promote his own one.
In an interview with Dan Patrick, he weighed in on the “Tom Brady vs Patrick Mahomes” debate.

Gruden said that ring-wise, Tom Brady has the edge, as he has seven Super Bowl rings, while Mahomes has three, but he outlined where Mahomes outshines Brady.
“Some of the things that Mahomes does with the ball—it’s incredible. You’ve got to defend Andy Reid and all of the Andy Reid preparation. And when the play breaks down, Mahomes makes the play work anyhow. So this is a double-edged sword to deal with. He’s the best in my opinion.” (4:00 – 4:15)
According to Gruden, Mahomes is a maestro when it comes to adaptability, as he can make plays on the fly, even when ones handed to him by Andy Reid break down.
Moreover, Mahomes has many years before he retires.. As the Chiefs aim for a three-peat following a perfect 3-0 start to the 2024 season, can Mahomes inch closer to Tom Brady?

Jon Gruden was fired from the Las Vegas Raiders as coach after his leaked emails emerged where he had used racist and homophobic comments. On being asked if he knew who leaked the emails, the former Raiders coach remained tight-lipped (6:00):
“I’m not going to get into all that. I really don’t even want to talk about it. I have a great opportunity to do some of the things I want to do right now, and that’s what I’m focused on.”
Referring to rumors that Gruden wanted to get back into coaching after suing the NFL, Patrick asked him about the status of the suit. The outcome would determine if Gruden could return to the NFL, or even college football, as a coach. Gruden said (5:35):
“Well, it’s in due process. It’s not in my hands, so I can sit here and answer questions, but I don’t have anything to answer. I don’t know where it is—it’s in the court’s hands. So, I’m here to just study football and tell you what I see. That’s the best I can do right now.”
