Kansas City Chiefs fans are already convinced that their Week 16 home game vs. the Houston Texans has already been “rigged” against them.
Although the game is still three days away, Chiefs fans are already complaining that the league may “fix” it in Houston’s favor. The reason? Veteran NFL official Carl Cheffers will be the referee in this game.
Cheffers was the referee in Super Bowl 55, when the Kansas City Chiefs fell to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in a lopsided affair. Two years later, Cheffers and his crew made the controversial holding penalty call against James Bradberry that helped Kansas City defeat the Philadelphia Eagles in Super Bowl 57.
Nonetheless, fans are already accusing the league of fixing the Texans-Chiefs game with Cheffers serving as the referee:
“Even more of a reason to rest Mahomes this week,” one fan wrote.
“He didnt screw us in Superbowl 57 but I still don’t trust him,” claimed another
“Yall should just bench mahomes to playoffs,” said a fan.
“I mean we did win a Super Bowl with this idiot at the helm,” quipped a user.
“Refs will help play against KC. What else is new. Oh well the Chiefs are winning it despite the bad calls, as they always do,” wrote another.
“ugh,” a fan said.
“Welp, it was a nice run, boys. I wonder what clown show antics we’ll see?,” asked another.
“It’s nice that Carl Cheffers will be screwing over the Chiefs for once instead of us!,” a fan wrote.
Kansas City Chiefs Own NFL’s Best Record
With the Detroit Lions falling to the Buffalo Bills on Sunday, the Chiefs (13-1) are in sole possession of the best record in football. They’re two games up on Buffalo for the AFC’s top seed, needing just two more wins to ensure that the AFC runs through Arrowhead.
