Kate Middleton and Prince William are a ‘normal mum and dad’ who queue for the tombola at school fairs and never miss a school event, sources claim

The Prince and Princess of Wales are ‘like a normal mum and dad’ who throw themselves into events at their children’s school, a source has claimed.

Kate and William, both 41, are reported to be ‘hands-on’ parents who never miss an event at Lambrook School in Berkshire where their children Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis are pupils.

Hello! magazine reports the royal couple take part in all the important school activities, including ‘queueing for the tombola’ in a recent fundraising drive.

It has long been known that the Princess of Wales does the school run every day; however a source told the publication both parents are heavily involved with Lambrook events.

The source claimed the future King and Queen tend to discreetly slip into events such as carol concerts and will almost always be in attendance, fitting occasions around their busy schedules.

‘The day after Kate’s carol service [at Westminster Abbey], it was the school Christmas fair and they were all there, as they were the previous year.

‘I saw them queueing up for tombola tickets like everyone else. They really act like a normal mum and dad,’ the source said.

They added that the royal couple attended the school’s carol service at Eton College Chapel and sat alongside the headmaster – while joining in with all the songs.

Royal fans have previously commented on the couple’s ‘relatable’ style of parenting after spotting Kate and William out in public.

A video of Kate parenting a young Prince George, which resurfaced last year, left royal fans praising the Princess of Wales’s ‘down-to-earth’ parenting.

The clip was from the couple’s three-week-long royal tour of Australia in 2014, during which the royal couple – who were the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge at the time – visited Sydney Zoo with their firstborn.

TikTok account Royal Watcher posted a video of Prince George looking absolutely entranced by bilbies at the zoo.

The heartwarming ten-second video shows George bouncing up and down in delight as he met the animal who had been named after him while his mother supports him.

In a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it-moment, the royal mother quickly reaches over and wipes away a bit of George’s dribble with her hand.

As the zookeeper reaches over into the exhibit, Kate then discreetly wiped her hand on the hem of her yellow dress.

The royal fan who runs the account wrote: ‘Kate wiping Prince George’s dribble on her dress.

‘Such a down to earth Mummy!’

The clip has amassed almost 200,000 views since it was uploaded yesterday – and fans were delighted by Kate’s relatable parenting moment.

One wrote: ‘Lol – down to earth!’

Another added: ‘WOW, she’s one up on me. I didn’t see the dribble!’

During the engagement, Prince William was totally fearless as the bilby came over to eat out of his hands and George also reached out to stroke the creature.

However, parents protectively pulled him back.

‘He’s trying to grab his ear,’ said Kate.

‘If he gets it he’ll never let go,’ said William, who kissed the top of his son’s head.

As the keeper went to coax the bilby closer to George, Kate stepped in to stop him, thinking it a bad idea.

‘He’s got quite a strong grab actually,’ she said.
