Kayla Nicole speaks out on facing backlash for discussing Travis Kelce on Angel Reese's podcast (PO)

Travis Kelce’s ex-girlfriend Kayla Nicole made headlines this week following her viral podcast episode with WNBA star Angel Reese. During the Unapologetically Angel podcast, Nicole opened up about her breakup with the Chiefs tight end.

However, she faced a lot of backlash for it after the podcast. During an interview with the I Am Athlete Daily on Tuesday, Kayla Nicole got emotional while opening up about the backlash she faced for discussing her relationship with Travis Kelce:

“I thought that I handled things with grace. Thought that I answered the questions to the best of my ability. The public had their interpretation of things — didn’t matter to me. My mom calls me, though. And it’s those conversations … that’s what matters to me because she’s offended. She’s hurt by the way people are perceiving her daughter.”

Kayla Nicole added:

“She’s hurt by the negative headlines and the way people are spinning it. And even my mom was like, ‘Maybe next time, we don’t answer those questions,’ and it’s simple as that. Don’t give it any energy. You don’t always have to respond. I’ve been on that soap box for a long time. I don’t always have to respond.”

Travis Kelce and Kayla Nicole reportedly broke up in 2022.

Kayla Nicole recalled financial struggles post first breakup with ex Travis kelce

Travis Kelce and Kayla Nicole dated for five years before parting ways. The couple went through multiple breakups before finally calling it a day. During Nicole’s first breakup with Kelce, she went through financial struggles, as per the Unapologetically Angel podcast (12:05):

“It was, at the time, a long-distance relationship. I was going back and forth and I was in between apartments so I thought, ‘That’s cool. We’re going to get married, and I’m going to move into the house, and I don’t really need an apartment.’ We broke up. My lease was up. My lease on my car was up all at the same time, and I was just like, ‘What have I done?’”

Nicole added:

“We ended up getting back together just from an emotional standpoint, but from that point moving forward, it was like, ‘I don’t care who I date, I don’t care where they are, I’m going to always have my own place. I’m going to always have my own car. I’m going to always focus on my career and support theirs but really prioritize my own goals.'”

In addition, Kayla Nicole also addressed the hate she faced following her breakup with Travis Kelce, as the tight end started dating Taylor Swift.
