Chicago Bears quarterback Justin Fields is the top quarterback name who’s been heavily mentioned in trade rumors over the last two months, and for good reason.

The Bears are widely expected to use the No. 1 pick of 2024 (via the Carolina Panthers) on USC quarterback Caleb Williams. If the front office is leaning towards that, they’ll want to trade Fields well ahead of the draft.

But as noted by Ari Meirov of The 33rd Team, there may not end up being much of a trade market for Fields after all. As Meirov points out, most of the teams that need to add a quarterback are going in other directions:

It was recently reported that Cousins is planning to move his family to Atlanta, a clear indicator that he’ll sign with the Falcons. Before getting linked to Cousins, the Falcons were frequently mentioned as a logical landing spot for the Bears’ dual-threat quarterback.

One team that could make sense for Fields? The New York Giants, who could look to replace Daniel Jones following another disappointing season in 2023 that ended abruptly with a season-ending ACL tear.

But Fields has shown plenty of promise over his three years on a rebuilding Bears team, even rushing for 1,143 yards and eight touchdowns in his sophomore year. Fields is a starting QB in this league, but it’s anybody’s guess where he’ll wind up in 2024.
