Lil Uzi Vert had a phone thrown at them by girlfriend JT of rap group City Girls at the BET Awards on Sunday night as her team denied that their quarrel was caused by fellow female rapper Ice Spice.

A video surfaced on Monday morning of Uzi, 27 – who uses they/them pronouns –  seated at the annual award show held at Los Angeles’ Microsoft Theater on Sunday night when their 30-year-old girlfriend could be heard yelling profanities and ultimately threw a cell phone at their head.

As JT referred to Uzi as a ‘groupie’ during the altercation, the Internet went wild with speculation that the lovers’ quarrel was due to rising rapper Ice Spice, 23, who sizzled on the red carpet.

During their performance that night Uzi rapped: ‘I got a nice wife/Wig came off twice/She got a little afro, she looks like Ice Spice.’

However, insiders in JT’s camp denied the accusations as sources told TMZ Hip Hop on Monday that the argument had nothing to do with the Munch hitmaker.

The publication’s sources insist that JT became frustrated when she lost her seat after the audience had shuffled around.

The insiders told the publication that the City Girls rapper ‘loves’ Ice Spice and there is no indication of any friction between the two.

The internet started buzzing as Cardi B posted a video of the brouhaha on Twitter, showing that the Barbie World singer was seated next to the Just Wanna Rock rapper.

JT was recorded calling her boyfriend a ‘groupie.’ She hit them multiple times with her phone, Hot New Hip Hop reported.

The 20 min rapper said they ‘didn’t even do nothing,’ but as they said that, JT was storming her way out of the venue.

Lil Uzi Vert followed her out of the venue in one of the more dramatic moments from the annual awards show.

They followed her and they left the venue together. The fight could have also had something to do with the song that mentions Ice Spice.

Later in the evening, Ice Spice posted photos from the night on her Instagram.

One commenter wrote: ‘This why uzi got yelled at,’ while another quipped: ‘JT literally overreacted on Uzi, Bro literally did nothing wrong, Bro was just hanging out with Ice.’

Ice Spice debuted the song and music video for Barbie World last week, which she does in collaboration with Nicki Minaj.

The song samples the Aqua’s 1997 hit song Barbie Girl.

It’s featured on the soundtrack for the upcoming Barbie movie, which will see Margot Robbie, play the iconic 12″ tall doll alongside Ryan Gosling’s Ken.
