The Detroit Lions opened as a touchdown underdog against the San Francisco 49ers in the NFC championship game but they had as much as a 17-point lead in the first half.

However, things would start to fall apart in the second half as the 49ers would score 27 points in a row at one point.

 

The 49ers may have won, but the fan base is not happy with one play after that game.

Following a Brock Purdy scramble with less than five minutes to go in the fourth quarter, the 49ers quarterback fell to the ground to give himself up but it appeared he took a shot anyway.

Lions rookie cornerback Brian Branch paid respect to the 49ers while speaking to reporters before the game, but his actions show something entirely different.

Since 2010 alone, the 49ers have played in the NFC championship seven times.

The Lions made their second conference championship game appearance. That’s tied for the second-fewest in league history. The only other team with fewer appearances is the Houston Texans, who came into the NFL in 2002.

A collapse in the second half is the reason the team was sent to Cancun while the 49ers have moved on.
