Ugarte is on his way to Old Trafford for €50 million.

Manuel Ugarte has posted on social media ahead of his move to Manchester United – and a former United player has already replied to him.

Journalist Duncan Castles reported that United agreed a fee with PSG for the signing of the Uruguay midfielder on Monday night.

That fee is believed to be an initial €50 million plus €10 million in add-ons, with Ugarte due to travel to England to have a medical.

Once the deal is finalised, Ugarte will become United’s fifth signing of the summer after deals for Joshua Zirkzee, Leny Yoro, Noussair Mazraoui and Matthijs de Ligt.

Now, Ugarte has broken his silence on his proposed transfer – and all but confirmed it is happening.

The 23-year-old has simply posted an eyes emoji, with the tweet racking up 34,000 likes in under an hour.

His international team-mate and former United winger Facundo Pellistri has responded to the post, adding his own emojis including a red heart.

Pellistri left United to join Greek Super League giants Panathinaikos last week.

The Athletic report that negotiations were challenging between PSG and United, with the reigning Ligue 1 champions wanting a fixed €60 million fee to sell the midfielder.

That initially led to United walking away from the deal, but they returned to the table and managed to include add-ons as part of the agreement.

PSG, for their part, inserted a 10 per cent sell-on clause into the transfer, with the add-ons believed to be largely performance-related.

The deal was able to advance following United’s agreement to sell Scott McTominay to Napoli for €30 million.

McTominay’s departure, once he finalises personal terms, will end a 22-year association with the Old Trafford club that saw him rise through the club’s academy before establishing himself as a versatile first team player under several managers, including Erik ten Hag.
