It may be time for Mattress Mack to stop placing bets.

Famed Houston Astros fan and Texas furniture mogul Jim McIngvale, better known as ‘Mattress Mack’, once again bet big on a Houston team, and once again, he lost. From college basketball to pro baseball, McIngvale has developed a reputation around the sports world for betting millions of dollars as part of his ongoing business promotions at Gallery Furniture that promise refunds to some customers if a certain team wins a championship.

According to The New York Post, Mattress Mack lost $500,000 on three different bets for the Houston Texans.

One of the bets he placed was the team advancing to the Super Bowl, which obviously didn’t happen, as the Texans lost in the Divisional Round to the Baltimore Ravens.

His other two bets were for the Texans to defeat the Ravens or at least cover the spread. Mack placed a $210,000 wager on Houston’s moneyline. In addition, McIngvale has $263,000 on the Texans to cover the 9.5-point spread.

The Texans were the only team to get blown out during the Divisional round.

In total, if all three bets hit for McIngvale, he would’ve collected a smooth $1.77 million. Instead, he just made his latest donation to a sportsbook.
