The Duchess of Sussex Meghan Markle joined the Royal Family and took up duties as a working royal in 2018, before later turning her back and stepping down from royal life in 2020
Meghan Markle could have been seen as a valuable asset to the Royal Family but ‘blew’ it and ‘threw it in their faces’, according to a royal expert.
The former Suits actress married into the Royal Family in May 2018 when she wed Prince Harry, and initially it was thought that she had ‘all the right attributes’ to be a working royal, but that soon changed when she and Harry stepped back from royal life in 2020. The couple have since made explosive and controversial comments during interviews and their Netflix series about their experience in The Firm.
Now a royal expert has suggested that the Duchess of Sussex was given the chance to be ‘an asset’ to the royal family but ‘blew it’.

He added that, in comparison, the Princess of Wales had become “a huge asset” to the Royal Family and it had been thought that Meghan might be the same.
The comments come after it’s been claimed that whilst Prince Harry is said to be keen to mend the royal rift and repair his relationship with his family and potentially return to the UK, Meghan will be the ultimate decider. Royal commentator Richard Fitzwilliams has explained that the former Suits actress will ultimately ‘have the final say’ as he told The Sun: “If Meghan didn’t want to come she could never be forced to. It would be extremely unlikely Harry would come over with the kids without Meghan.”

The comments come as it’s been revealed that Prince Harry will visit the UK next month to celebrate 10 years of the Invictus Games in May, and it’s likely that Meghan will not accompany him. An expert has revealed the former Suits actress is unlikely to visit the UK due to fears over safety and the ‘drama’ that would likely unfold with the Royal Family.
Meghan has made a return to the UK since the pair stepped back from their royal duties in 2020 but only on rare occasions which included Queen Elizabeth II’s funeral in 2022. However, she did not return for King Charles III’s coronation last year, which Harry attended alone.
