Angel Reese wants to see Michael Jordan at her games. Did she forget about Shaquille O’Neal that quickly?
Chicago will start its regular season on May 15 against Dallas.
Michael Jordan (L) is Angel Reese’s new favorite in spite of Shaquille O’Neal.
Angel Reese, the promising rookie forward for the Chicago Sky in the WNBA, has set her sights on a special guest for her upcoming games. Despite receiving high praise from NBA legend Shaquille O’Neal, who called her possibly the best athlete ever from LSU, Reese has her heart set on another basketball icon: Michael Jordan.
In a recent interview with WGN, Reese expressed her desire to have His Air Majesty attend one of her games at Wintrust Arena. “I want Michael Jordan to come to a game,” she declared. “I’ve never met him. That’s the only person I really want to come to a game.”
Reese, who celebrated her 22nd birthday on May 6, is embarking on her professional career with determination and enthusiasm. In her preseason debut, she showed promise, scoring 13 points and grabbing nine rebounds, despite being critical of her own performance.
Angel’s relationship with Shaq
While Shaq’s praise of Reese as potentially the greatest LSU athlete ever is significant, Reese seems more focused on her future in the WNBA and the support of basketball royalty like Jordan. Her commitment to making a mark in the league is evident, and she is eager to have Jordan witness her journey firsthand.
Reese herself has said that O’Neal is a father figure to her and both players have shared many moments. For example, Shaq escorted Angel and her mom to Louisiana State University’s senior day and the LA Lakers great is a constant presence on Reese’s social media. However, all that could be in the past.
Chicago’s next games
As Reese prepares for the Sky’s preseason home opener against the New York Liberty and the start of the regular season, all eyes will be on her to see if Jordan responds to her invitation. Will the basketball legend make an appearance to support the rising star? Fans will have to wait and see if Jordan answers Reese’s call and graces the courtside at Wintrust Arena.
Chicago debuted in the preseason on Friday, May 3 with a 92-81 loss against the Minnesota Lynx and on Tuesday the 7th they will play their second game against the New York Liberty. Reese and the Sky will open their regular season on May 15 against the Dallas Wings.
