The boxing star had very low moments after his retirement
Tustralian boxing legend Jeff Fenech, who trained Mike Tyson for his final professional fights, has been one of Tyson’s closest friends since they first met back in the 1980s. Fenech, now 60, has shared harrowing details of a moment when he feared for Tyson’s life after finding him in a critical condition at home.
Following his remarkable yet chaotic boxing career , Tyson’s life took a severe downward spiral due to drug and alcohol abuse. The 57-year-old former heavyweight champion has been sidelined recently due to an ulcer flare-up and after Tyson received medical attention for nausea and dizziness on a flight between Miami and Los Angeles. Iron Mike is reportedly in much better health now compared to nearly 20 years ago.
Fenech emphasized the importance of a strong support system in Tyson’s recovery, particularly highlighting the role of Tyson’s wife. “The biggest thing I’ve learnt is that if you’ve got good people around you, good things will happen. Mike’s wife is an amazing lady and has played such a huge part,” he noted.
Despite past struggles, Tyson has managed to turn his life around and remains focused on his goals. Currently, he is determined to fight YouTuber Jake Paul, who is way younger than him, showcasing his enduring fighting spirit. This highly anticipated match has garnered significant attention, with fans eager to see if Tyson’s experience and resilience can outmatch Paul’s youthful energy and unorthodox approach to the sport. The fight is expected to be a major event although the parity is very different in many categories.
