Following A’ja Wilson’s record-breaking performance in Wednesday’s game between the Las Vegas Aces and Indiana Fever, ESPN radio host Freddie Coleman had high praise for Wilson. On the “Greeny Show,” Coleman emphasized that the two-time WNBA MVP set himself apart from the rest of the league as he explained his statement.
“There’s never been anyone more dominant in terms of separating themselves from everyone else in the same league (than) what we’ve seen from A’ja Wilson over the last three years,” Coleman said.
“Caitlin Clark, who just came out there with the Indiana Fever, what people said about you in the MVP conversation, she said, ‘That guy, Wilson, she’s her. She’s undefendable. She’s so dominant, and she’s the most dominant athlete in any sport compared to anyone else, in my opinion.’

The event came after A’ja Wilson broke the WNBA’s all-time record for most points in a regular season in a game between the Aces and the Fever. Wilson led the Aces to an 86-75 win with a double-double of 27 points, 12 rebounds, two assists, two steals and three blocks.

The Aces center has surpassed Jewell Loyd’s 939 points mark and is set at 956 with four games remaining in the 2024 regular season. If she maintains her pace in the upcoming games, Wilson will be the first WNBA player to surpass the 1,000-point mark in a single season.

In a postgame interview between the Las Vegas Aces and Indiana Fever on Wednesday, A’ja Wilson credited her teammates for breaking the WNBA single-season scoring record. The two-time WNBA champion became emotional while talking about her teammates, calling them her “heartbeat.”
“My teammates are the guys, they’re the heartbeat that keeps me going,” Wilson said. “Just coming to work every day, ready to play, ready to lock in… we lock in every day and that’s what you see on the field.
“So the scores are great, they’ll always be there, and I’ll never stop scoring, but the group we have in the dressing room is something I’m really happy to be around. So I’m very lucky, I’m very fortunate to be able to do what I do with the people I do it with and I give it all to them.”
"They're the heartbeat."

A’ja Wilson is leading the way for the Aces as they look to defend their third straight WNBA title this season. Wilson is also the front-runner for MVP this season, and there’s no competition. The reigning WNBA Finals MVP leads the league in scoring and rebounding, averaging 27.3 points and 2.7 blocks along with 11.9 rebounds, 2.3 assists and 1.9 steals per game.
