Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever seem to have received the day off on Sunday after a hard-fought win over the New York Liberty on Saturday.
Clark finished that game with 19 points, 13 assists, and 12 rebounds; and in the process became the first WNBA rookie to record a triple-double in league history.
Therefore, she’s more than deserving of a rest. But her and her Fever team decided to keep competing on Sunday as part of Erica Wheeler’s pickleball charity event.
It looked to be all fun and games with the Fever in the early going.
Then, in typical professional athlete fashion, things began getting competitive.

Clark and her boyfriend appeared to play against teammate Lexie Hull at one point during the event.
And if Clark’s Instagram story is any indication, it got quite competitive.
Clark posted an Instagram story of Hull with the caption, “My name’s Lexie and I’m a try hard @LexieHull”.
The video showed Hull pretending to hit a pickleball at Clark.
X user @ccloveoml added a caption saying, “not cc calling lexie a try hard when she is the most competitive person alive”.
Despite the roast being lighthearted, there’s still clearly some competitive edge between them two.
Caitlin Clark’s Boyfriend is Catching Strays For Performance at Fever Competition
The Indiana Fever spent their off day on Sunday playing pickleball for guard Erica Mitchell’s charity foundation.
It seemed like a great event from start to finish, and every player on the team appeared to be in attendance.
One other cool aspect to the charity event was that players were allowed to bring a plus-one to play with them.
And for Fever rookie sensation Caitlin Clark, that meant she could bring her boyfriend Connor McCaffery along for the event.
While it looked like the couple had fun playing alongside one another, fans were coming at McCaffery for his pickleball performance.

“connor and cc no synergy, guys lock in,” X user @ccloveoml wrote in reply to a video of Clark and McCaffery.
Another X user commented saying, “Connor isn’t taking this seriously, Caitlin needs someone out there with more competitive . Caitlin and Temi when her hand is better would be awesome!”
“Bf is lame there. Common, man,” said another.
Clearly there was no reason for McCaffery to be trying so hard during a noncompetitive charity event.
But Fever fans seemed to still have wanted more effort from Clark’s boyfriend.
