Nikola Jokic in the post vs. Bam AdebayoDENVER, COLORADO – JUNE 12: Nikola Jokic #15 of the Denver Nuggets dribbles against Bam Adebayo #13 of the Miami Heat during the second quarter in Game Five of the 2023 NBA Finals at Ball Arena on June 12, 2023 in Denver, Colorado.

The referees during Monday night’s NBA Finals matchup between the Miami Heat and Denver Nuggets came under major criticism for what fans believe is gross incompetence.

Sure, that’s always the case when it comes to the finals, but social media was still very upset because Nikola Jokic seemed to choose violence at various points and got away with it.

Nuggets fans will have their own gripes, but Heat fans are of the view that the Serbian was let off the hook after a “dirty play” on Bam Adebayo. In a video shown below, the two-time MVP appeared to swing a vicious elbow at the Heat big man while they were battling beneath the rim. It happened right in front of one of the referees but nothing was called.

Another clip shows him doing something similar to Kyle Lowry.

You could check out some of the reactions right below:

Jokic was fortunate not to get hit with flagrant fouls. It was a pretty physical encounter and he was likely frustrated with a lack of calls as the refs mostly let the teams play. But he clearly let that get the better of him and could have possibly cost his team a closeout win.

Ultimately, the Nuggets went on to win their first NBA Championship, with Jokic being named Finals MVP.
