Andrew Wiggins shooting a basketballLOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA – MAY 12: Andrew Wiggins #22 of the Golden State Warriors warms up before the game against the Los Angeles Lakers during Western Conference Semifinal Playoffs at Crypto.com Arena on May 12, 2023 in Los Angeles, California.

NBA fans are feeling it for Andrew Wiggins on the back of a worrying announcement from the Golden State Warriors.

The forward was not with the team when they played the Washington Wizards on Tuesday and there’s nothing on when he will be back.

According to head coach Steve Kerr, Wiggins is dealing with a “personal matter.” Kerr refused to go into details when he spoke to ‘95.7 The Game’ earlier this week as he said he wanted to respect the player’s request for privacy.

“We do expect him to be back but we just don’t exactly know when,” he said. “We’re in a position where Wiggs is a private person and he’s asked to keep it private and we’re gonna honor that. So it doesn’t help for me to sit here and try to explain any of that. The bottom line is we respect Wiggs, we need him and we fully expect him back, but we just don’t know when that will be.”
Fans have been offering prayers on social media. You can see some of their reactions right below:

Wiggins went through something similar last season as he missed 25 games because of a “family matter.”

Neither he nor the team revealed what it was. However, The Athletic’s Shams Charania reported that the forward’s father was “dealing with a serious medical situation.”

Wiggins returned to the team for the start of the playoffs and played in all 13 games before the Warriors were beaten by the Los Angeles Lakers in the second round.
