Neal Maupay has trolled James Maddison after he was left out of England’s Euro 2024 squad.
On Thursday night it was reported that Maddison was among the seven players being omitted by Gareth Southgate, who must trim his squad down to 26 by Friday 7 June.
Curtis Jones and James Trafford are also believed to have been axed but after Maddison posted a lengthy statement expressing his heartbreak over missing out, Maupay struck.
On his official X account, the Frenchman reignited their rivalry by posting a picture of him holding darts at a dartboard – a reference to him mocking Maddison’s celebration back in January.

Maupay’s antics riled up Maddison, who took issue with the imitating and aimed a dig afterwards.

Asked about Maupay mimicking him after scoring in Spurs’ 3-2 win, Maddison said: “He hasn’t scored enough goals to have his own celebration.”
However, Maupay hit back with a jibe at Maddison on Instagram, writing: “Went a bit early with that one. Gutted we couldn’t get the win. More goals and less relegations in my career than James Maddison. We go again Monday.”

He also commented “Ahahah rent free” on a post from Maddison and later explained just why he decided to celebrate in that manner in a spur of the moment thought.

“Believe it not, that wasn’t planned,” he told SPORTbible in an exclusive interview.
“I scored, and I was running towards the corner flag, and I just thought, ‘You know what – I’m gonna throw a dart’.

“Yeah it was [because of Maddison]. That’s how he celebrates his goals, right?
“But apparently you’re not allowed to throw a dart, because it’s only him that can do it, the way he got offended. It was quite funny.
“The only thing is, it would have been even better if we’d won. But we lost in the end.
“At their place, in front of their fans, got all of their players raging. That’s GOATed. All of those players, every time they scored, they ran right at me.

“Just by throwing a dart, I got 11 players on toast. It was so easy.”
Along with Maddison, Jarell Quansah, Harry Maguire and Jack Grealish are also set to be absent from the squad, which must be whittled down to 26.
