Carsley led England to a comfortable 2-0 over Republic of Ireland, the country he played 40 times for, in his first game in charge on Saturday.

Declan Rice and Jack Grealish, who both switched international allegiance from Ireland to England, were on target after receiving a fiery reception.

England had plenty of positive moments and will be looking to continue the excitement when they face Finland in the Nations League on Tuesday.

Odds have been slashed on Carsley taking the job on a full-time basis, with it being reported that there is a growing sentiment within the England camp that the 50-year-old should be offered the gig.

And details surrounding Carsley’s contract have emerged courtesy of CITY AM.

The former Everton and Coventry City midfielder became Under 21’s boss three years ago and has been on the same rolling contract ever since.

However, in an interesting call, Carsley does not have an agent. Having stepped up to the senior squad, it was Carsley who handled negotiations with the Football Association.

It’s claimed Carsley’s salary with the England Under 21’s was £300,000 but he was able to negotiate a significant pay rise as per The Telegraph.

In not having an agent to handle proceedings, Carsley is bucking trends at the highest level of management but is befitting of how he operates.

And when there was praise for his style of play being evident in his first game, he gave all the credit elsewhere.

“It’s definitely not my style,” Carsley said in his post-Ireland presser.

“It’s the players that are capable of receiving the ball in the tight spaces and playing through.

“I’m just lucky at the minute that I’m coaching them. I definitely don’t see this as my style, they should take credit for all of the sessions.”
