Chiefs wide receiver Kadarius Toney is catching heat after breaking his silence on that costly offside call from Week 14.
The wideout is blaming the referees for his team’s loss, claiming it’s the official’s job to let a player know whether he’s lined up correctly. Of course, he’s wrong about that. While the refs do give warnings at times, they are not required to.
The WR also accused the referees of lying about giving him a warning.
“Then they came back and lied and said they gave me a warning, which I never talked to a ref,” he said.
To date, none of the officials have gone on record to state that the player was warned. Carl Cheffers, who threw the flag on that particular play, spoke to a pool reporter after the game and pointed out that he wasn’t under any obligation to warn the player but never claimed to have cautioned him.
