NFL fans are going crazy over a fan’s imaginary scenario for the Kansas City Chiefs-Buffalo Bills AFC Divisional Round game on Sunday.

For the third time in four years, Patrick Mahomes’ Chiefs will meet Josh Allen’s Bills in the postseason. Kansas City, of course, won the 2020 AFC Championship and 2021 Divisional Round tilts (both at Arrowhead). This time, Buffalo gets home advantage at Highmark Stadium.

In the 2021 Divisional Round, the Chiefs defeated Buffalo 42-36 in overtime after scoring a touchdown on the opening possession. After plenty of backlash, the NFL decided to adjust its overtime rules which guarantee every team a possession, even if the team that gets opening possession scores a touchdown.

Chiefs fan Josh Chavis proposed a wild “what if” scenario that plays out like this: Sunday’s game goes to overtime. Buffalo scores a touchdown on its opening possession, but the Chiefs do the same on their possession then win the game on a two-point try:

Chavis’ enticing proposal led to plenty of hilarious reactions from fans:

Thanks to the NFL’s schedule format, the last three Chiefs-Bills regular season games were played at Arrowhead Stadium. Allen and the Bills won all three of those contests, so we know they’re more than capable of going head-to-head with the class of the NFL.

Either the Chiefs are in their sixth straight AFC Championship Game, or the Bills prove that three time’s a charm. Something’s gotta give on Sunday.
