Jane Slater knows she is about to lose a very important part of her family.

The NFL Network reporter revealed that her mother, who had been battling cancer, showed improvement a few months ago, but her health took a bad turn.

Slater expressed a hope for another Christmas with her mother and she got that, but now, things are transitioning for her to leave this Earth.

This week, Slater took to social media to share the heartbreaking news that her mother not only passed away but did not go peacefully.
“I’m not sure I’ll ever be able to articulate the end,” Slater wrote on X. “She fought so hard and did not go peacefully. I am not sure I’ll ever get over these last 3 brutal days but I’m grateful to have been there for it all. The good the bad and with my sister and father at home providing the care.”

Slater also shared a heartwarming post of her parents spending some quality time together in bed.
“In the end, it’s about who will be there at the end. 43 years of marriage after 11 weeks of dating. As mom slips away, I feel so grateful that these two chose each other. He was there for every battle these past 15 months and has rarely left her side as she loses the war.”
Slater received many prayers and condolences.

Slater has established herself as a rising star at the NFL Network since joining the channel in 2016. The Dallas-based reporter appears on several programs such as NFL Now, NFL Total Access, and NFL GameDay Morning.

Things changed for her professionally after she sent in an audition tape to the NFL Network in 2016 for an on-air reporter job covering the Cowboys. It paid off, with Slater having emerged in the role as a leading voice on the Cowboys in the past few years.

We send our thoughts and prayers to her and her family as they transition during this difficult time.
